MEMPHIS, Tenn — Three suspects of a stolen vehicle are dead and five other people, including a police officer are injured after a chase involving the Memphis Police Department (MPD) led to a crash in the area of Hickory Hill Road and Knight Arnold Road on Thursday, Nov. 7.
MPD responded to a call about criminal activity on the 6300 block of Global Drive at around 5:00 p.m. Officers saw at least three suspects in a stolen vehicle. According to officials, the suspects were driving a black Chrysler 300.
MPD officials reported multiple vehicle break-ins, where at least four firearms were stolen.
When officers tried the stop the car, the suspects drove away, according to officials.
The car then crashed into multiple other cars around Hickory Hill Rd. and Knight Arnold Rd., sending four people to local hospitals in non-critical condition, according to MPD.
One MPD officer was also sent to Regional One Health in non-critical condition.
The stolen vehicle then crashed into a pole, where two of the occupants were found dead, and one other was transported to Regional One Health in critical condition.
MPD reported the third suspect died as a result of their injuries at around 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.
A traffic alert was issued at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. All lanes at the intersection of Hickory Hill Road and Knight Arnold Road are closed as of 9:15 p.m.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has been called to conduct an investigation into this incident.
