MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A six-car pileup involving a Memphis Police squad car and a private ambulance cause police to shut down the southbound lanes of Austin Peay Highway near the I-40 interchange in Memphis Friday morning.
At 8:32 a.m., Memphis Police responded to the 6-car accident, caused by icy road conditions, which involved the squad car and the ambulance. Minor injuries were reported and no one had to be taken to the hospital.
Memphis Police is urging residents to use extreme caution when driving on the roads, and if it's not necessary to travel, stay at home.
MPD is still acting under their inclement weather policy, meaning they will not be responding to every accident while there is still significant ice on the roads.
