MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A person is dead and another was injured after a semi-truck crashed and caught on fire, closing all eastbound lanes Sunday on I-40 and Sycamore.
The two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler happened around 4 p.m., leaving behind a trail of fire, TDOT cameras showed.
Memphis Police said they responded to the two-vehicle accident at 4:18 p.m., and officers found two victims. One was pronounced dead, and the other was taken to Regional One Health in non-critical condition.
The Memphis Fire Department said the driver of the semi-truck was the one injured and sent to Regional One's burn unit.
All lanes on I-40 and Sycamore View are back open.
