MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are asking for helping finding drivers who may have information on a deadly two-car crash in Hickory Hill Sunday night. MPD released pictures of the vehicles whose drivers they want to speak to in the crash they are calling a hit-and-run.
The Memphis Police Department said their officers responded to a two-car crash at Hickory Hill Road and Sunny Morning Drive around 8 p.m. on July 28, 2024.
Investigators said three people died on the scene, and four others were rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. A fifth person, a minor, was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in non-critical condition. A pole was also struck and power lines were downed.
Monday, MPD provided the ages of the victims and updates on their conditions as of Sunday night. In the first vehicle: the driver (age unknown) died. A 21-year-old man, 23-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were in critical condition. A 10-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy were in non-critical condition.
In the second vehicle: the driver (age unknown) died along with a 51-year-old male passenger.
Investigators said the first vehicle, an Infiniti QX70, was heading south on Hickory Hill Road when it hit the right side of the second car, Lexus GX470, while making a left-hand turn onto Sunny Morning Drive.
MPD investigators are looking for the drivers of six other vehicles who were near the crash and left the scene, calling them possible witnesses.
