MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Traffic on I-40 Westbound at Whitten is clear after a fatal morning accident involving a car that ran off the road.
One person was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. One male was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition.
Memphis Police Department issued a traffic alert at 6 a.m.
All westbound lanes, including the exit ramp and the left and right right lanes were blocked for hours as law enforcement worked to clear the scene.
MPD responded to the accident at 3:46 a.m. Memphis Fire arrived at the scene at 4:04 a.m.
