MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said one person was minorly injured when a semi-truck flipped along a southbound ramp on I-240 near I-55 overnight.
The accident is blocking the two left lanes on I-55, and MPD said the ramp will be closed until further notice.
MPD said officers responded to the crash at I-55 South and I-240 East about midnight on Thursday, June 20, 2024. They found an 18-wheeler flipped over into the ditch on the right shoulder. They said the truck hit the guard rail and two MLGW poles.
Investigators said the truck was the only vehicle involved. The driver was taken to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition.
MPD investigators said it appeared the driver missed his exit and made a sharp turn on the ramp. The driver was issued a citation for financial responsibility, failure to maintain a safe lookout, and striking a fixed object.
MPD said the truck had to be towed and the contents of the trailer removed from the ditch where they had been thrown.
