MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s time again for the annual St. Jude Memphis Marathon, and that means plenty of traffic downtown. Road closures begin about Noon on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, and run to about 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Memphis Police and event workers will be on hand for the closures, which will impact roads all along and around the race course. Roads will reopen on a rolling basis as the last participant passes through each checkpoint.
Major roadways in and around Downtown and Midtown which will be impacted include:

- Riverside
- Court
- Main
- A.W. Willis
- 3rd
- Chelsea
- 4th
- North Pkwy
- Avalon
- Jackson
- Union
- Danny Thomas
- Poplar
From Friday at Noon to Saturday at 5 p.m. no vehicular traffic or parking will be allowed on Union Ave. from B.B. King Blvd. to Danny Thomas Blvd.
From Midnight to 1 p.m. Saturday, no vehicular traffic or parking will be allowed on B.B King Blvd. from G.E. Patterson Ave. to A.W. Willis Ave.
From 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, no vehicular traffic or parking will be allowed on Danny Thomas Blvd. from Union Ave. to A.W. Willis Ave.

- 2nd St. from G.E. Patterson Ave. to A.W. Willis Ave.
- A.W. Willis Dr. from Front St. to Danny Thomas Blvd.
- Shadyac Ave. from 2nd St. to Front St.
- Front St. from Georgia Ave. to Henry Ave.
- Poplar Ave. from B.B. King Blvd. to Front St.
- Beale St. from 4th St. to Front St.
- G.E. Patterson Ave. from B.B. King Blvd. to 2nd St.
- Georgia Ave. from Front St. to Riverside Dr.
- Riverside Dr. from Georgia Ave. to Jefferson Ave.
Residents along the race route are asked to move vehicles and trash cans off the street for race day.
Downtown drivers who need to leave the area should plan to do so before 6 a.m., and residents should plan to stay put until 11:30 a.m. To exit the area, head south toward Carolina Ave.
