PIGEON FORGE, Tenn — Dolly Parton has a new milestone to add to her long list of accomplishments. Her renowned Tennessee theme park, Dollywood, will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025. The year will mark four decades since the theme park grand opening in May 1986.
In commemoration of the milestone, Dollywood has several special events, celebrations and returning favorites planned, according to a press release from the park. Events will kick off with Season Passholder Preview Day on Friday, March 14.
A new 40th-anniversary show will debut Memorial Day weekend through the end of the summer, highlighting moments from guest-favorite shows. Additionally, the park will host a series of opening ceremonies, a rotation of playhouse favorites guests, a drone and fireworks show as part of Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration, story time and character meet & greets, a remastering of "Heartsong: The Movie" and more.
“And just think, I spent opening day watching the parking lot because I was worried that people might not show up,” she added with a laugh. “But look at how far we’ve come since then—and we’re just getting started!” Dolly Parton said.
Dollywood will also host a series of festivals in 2025, including the I Will Always Love You Music Festival, Dollywood's Flower and Food Festival, Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration presented by Food City and more. Guests will have the option to purchase one of multiple season-level passes for admission to celebration events.
“I can’t believe that we’ve been making memories for folks here at my Dollywood for 40 years,” Dolly explained. “That’s a lot of laughter, hugs and smiles, and I’m glad that we’ve been able to be part of it for so many years."
