MEMPHIS, Tenn. — With low temperatures hitting the Mid-South, the City of Memphis is opening its warming center Monday night at the Hospitality Hub to keep residents safe.
The warming center will open Dec. 2 at 9 p.m. and close the following morning at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.
An emergency warming center serves as a temporary facility for people needing protection from the cold. The Memphis center possesses limited services and does not replace services offered by a shelter.
The warming center has limited services and is not intended to replace the services provided by a shelter. Local shelters have openings for anyone needing food assistance or a place to sleep overnight.
People are advised to contact the Union Mission located at 383 Poplar Avenue (901-526-8403), or MIFA (901-529-4545) for overnight sleeping accommodations.
