MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis business owner of Elwood’s Shack, Tim Bednarski, is stepping up by providing a meal for MLGW employees who are actively working to restore power to more than 125,000 Memphis residents.
Bednarski is one of many who are helping people help people. Bednarski plans to offer free food for MLGW emergency crew workers for the whole weekend. MGLW emergency crew workers will be able to select food options from an adjusted menu.
The adjusted menu includes:
- Meatball sub
- Bacon cheeseburger
- Fish taco
- Large pulled pork sandwich
- Hungry man breakfast
- Fried egg sandwich
- Any hot dog
The severe winter ice storm started Thursday, February 3, 2022, and caused widespread power outages across the city. Although Memphis roads are clear, many folks are still left without power, searching for warmth, hot food, and solutions.
MLGW said it may take several days to restore power due to the amount of damage to trees and power lines in several areas. Officials said the aftermath of the ice storm is severe, and emergency crews are working around the clock in the hazardous conditions to help its customers.
Residents who are struggling to keep warm in their homes can go to the official City of Memphis warming center at Hickory Hill Community Center, located at 3910 Ridgeway Rd, Memphis, TN 38115.
Ongoing efforts to repair damages to city powerlines, cleanup fallen trees, and restore extensive electrical outages continues as residents and emergency crews weather through the aftermath of the winter ice storm. Residents can check the official MLGW outage map for power outage restoral updates.
