MEMA urges Mississippians to prepare for Hurricane Francine

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and flash flooding throughout the state of Mississippi from Wednesday into Friday.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) sent out a warning Monday, Sept. 9, 2024 urging Mississippians to prepare for flash flooding ahead of Tropical Storm Francine.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and flooding throughout the state of Mississippi starting Wednesday and continuing into Friday, according to MEMA.

The agency recommends Mississippians begin to prepare for severe weather, power outages and possible evacuations as soon as possible.

MEMA also recommends keeping a disaster supply kit containing the following:

• At least 3 Day Supply of Non-Perishable Food

• Flashlight with Extra Batteries

• Medication

• Copies of Important Documents

• Extra Cash

• First Aid Kit

MEMA will continue to monitor and provide updates on Tropical Storm Francine on their website.
