MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Runners from across the country and across the world are coming to Memphis this weekend for the annual St. Jude Memphis Marathon.
The weather for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon has always been a bit of a mixed bag, with the race happening as the seasons begin to transition in the Mid-South.
Held in early December, runners have experienced everything from mild and sunny to chilly and rainy. Over the years, temperatures have ranged from a comfortable 70 degrees to a brisk 40 degrees, so it’s a good idea for participants to be prepared for anything.
Last year, morning lows were in the 30s with afternoon highs in the 50s, marking ideal running conditions for many experienced racers.
The annual marathon returns this Saturday, December 7, and temperatures are expected to be below average.
2024 race day weather
Morning low temperatures will be in the 30s as the first racers start early Saturday morning. Winds of 5 to 15 mph could add an extra chill. Temperatures won't climb much, only getting to around 45 degrees by lunchtime. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with only a slight chance of a light shower.
