TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee and Mississippi state officials conducted a statewide tornado drill Wednesday morning as part of the Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week, designed to make sure residents are prepared the next time weather strikes.
The tornado drill happened February 22nd at 9:30am CT.
The National Weather Service conducted a statewide test of weather radios, and some tornado sirens or other alerts also sounded.
Officials say this was just a drill, but a good time to practice your severe weather safety plan at home, at work, and with your family.
This tornado drill is part of the statewide severe weather awareness week, which is sponsored by the National Weather Service. Each day this week will highlight a different weather hazard faced by Tennesseans and ways residents can stay safe.
