MEMPHIS, Tenn. — With high temperatures and heat index again hitting the Mid-South, the City of Memphis cooling center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2024.
It is located at the Hospitality Hub at 590 Washington Ave.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. people needing a ride to the cooling center via MATA may contact the Hospitality Hub at (901) 297-1680 to schedule a pickup.
An emergency cooling center is a temporary facility for those who need to get out of the hot weather. The cooling center has limited services does not replace the services provided by a shelter.
Openings are available at local shelters for anyone who is in need of food or overnight sleeping accommodations.
Those who need a ride from MATA to the cooling center can reportedly contact the Hospitality Hub at 901-297-1680.
