MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said a dozen people were arrested Friday in an operation targeting crime in a South Memphis neighborhood. And according to court records, many of them are already out of jail on bond.
MPD officials held a news conference Tuesday, June 11, 2024, about the joint operation between the department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), and the Shelby County District Attorney General (SCDAG).
MPD said ‘Operation All Off Boyd’ targeted the neighborhood near Boyd St. and Tate Ave on Friday June 7. They said more than 140 law enforcement officers swarmed the area and arrested 11 people on felony charges, and one person on a misdemeanor charge. The D.A. later said the misdemeanor charge for that one person was dismissed.
MPD said most of those arrested had warrants or were persons of interest in other cases.
Those arrested for felonies were:
- Ketorian Richards, 28 - Out of jail on $3,500 bond
- Tallas Riddle, 24 - Out of jail on $3,500 bond

- (MPD said the 11th felony is still under investigation and information is not being released at this time.)
MPD released a short video showing body camera footage from the operation.
MPD said investigators seized 13 handguns – two of which were stolen, two rifles, 3.7 lbs. of marijuana, 249 ecstasy pills, two vehicles, and $4,291 in cash. They said some of the guns had Glock switches and extended magazines. Investigators are testing the guns to determine if they may have been used in other known crimes.
MPD Chief CJ Davis said those arrested had been “terrorizing” neighbors in the area. She said there will be a plan put in place in the neighborhood to prevent crime from getting out of control in the future.
MPD said this effort was similar to but more targeted than ‘Operation Code Zero,’ which targets certain high crime precincts, increasing traffic stops and the execution of warrants.
Memphis Police said more arrests could come from this latest effort.
Editor's Note: Memphis Police originally named one other person as charged with a felony. They later corrected, saying that person was charged with a misdemeanor. Court records show that charge was dismissed on June 10, 2024. We have removed that person's name.
