MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have released pictures of the suspects in an attempted burglary this week at another City Gear location in the city. It’s just the latest in a string of crimes targeting the stores.
MPD said officers responded to a prowler call just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at the City Gear in the 4000 block of Elvis Presley Blvd. They said three vehicles first came up to the side of the business with their lights off, then three more cars parked in front of the store.
Investigators said several suspects tried to break into the businesses using a crowbar but took off when officers arrived.
MPD said the suspects were in a white Audi, a silver vehicle, and four other black cars.
Police are still looking for the men connected with another theft Monday, Nov 6 at the City Gear store on South Third St. Suspects rammed a truck through the wall to break in early that morning, then more came back that afternoon as repair crews were working and ABC24 cameras were rolling.

Earlier this week, ABC 24 spoke with City Gear owner Robby Bullington, who said the company is asking the city for help with the crime issue.
“We saw a significant uptick in the Memphis area this year as of late," Bullington said. "I think we’re in day nine of November and we’ve had six incidents in our Memphis area stores."
According to Memphis Police, City Gear stores in Memphis were hit in 16 separate burglaries, 42 thefts, and one robbery in 2023.
