MSCS encourages parents to enroll kids in free Spring Break program

MSCS will once again host a Spring Break program that will "level-up" their learning.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is encouraging families to enroll their students in this year's Spring Break Learning Academy, before registration closes on Friday, March 1.

Similar to last year's, this program is free and includes meals. It is designed to help students "level up" their learning, with elementary and middle school students reviewing math, reading, art and P.E., while high school students take ACT prep.

"Spring Break Learning Academy offers a fantastic opportunity for students to continue learning while enjoying free meals and a safe environment," said Interim Superintendent Toni Williams in a press release. "It's a win-win-win situation, and parent feedback from previous sessions has been overwhelmingly positive.”

The program will run from March 11-13. K-8 students will attend from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while high school students are planned to go from 9 a.m. to noon.

According to MSCS, last year, 1,200 students from 108 schools enrolled in the program.
