MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Football hosted a women's clinic called 'Saturday with Silverfield'.
Coaches and players were on hand to show their support and chat with women about the game.
They ran drills, showed different schemes and provided a safe space for women to feel comfortable to ask questions and talk football.
"It's important because being a female in sports and knowing how much I loved sports growing up, that there's a lot of other female fans out there that like to have a night dedicated to them," Memphis Football and recruiting administrative coordinator, Rebecca Allen said. 'Females coming to this event are able to more talk about what they know and or ask a question like 'why did you run this play during this game versus talking about it in a public setting."
"I think that more women that haven't been around football as much, this is very not intimidating and it's a very fun and easy way to learn things you might not ask otherwise," Tonia Hanson, a Memphis Football fan said.
The event also had food and drinks, a silent auction and gifts and giveaways.
Afterwards players held a Q&A with all of the women to give them more of an insight into the game and their lives.
Memphis football is gearing up for it's spring game on April 20th.
