NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Ole Miss (7) grinded out a 67-55 win over Marquette (10) in the First Round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
It wasn't the prettiest of wins for Ole Miss, but at this time of year it's all about surviving and advancing.
The Rebels put together a fourth quarter defensive stand, outscoring the Golden Eagles 18-9 to ultimately decide the game.
Four different players scored in double-digits for the Rebels.
They were led by Madison Scott, who put up 20 points for a personal best in a Tourney game. It marked Scott's fifth 20-point performance of the season, and she coupled it up with six rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Tyia Singleton put together a season-best performance with 12 points and added seven rebounds, while Kennedy Todd-Williams grabbed 15 with seven rebounds and two assists and Kharyssa Richardson notched 10 points for her sixth double-digit performance of the season.
The win sees the Rebels roll into the Second Round for the second straight year and the 13th time in program history.
The Rebels will face Notre Dame (2) on Monday in Round 2 of the NCAA Tournament. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. Television network and time of the game are yet to be announced.
