MEMPHIS, Tenn — Memphis Police have released pictures of the suspects in one of the latest smash-and-grab burglaries at a Memphis City Gear store.
Memphis Police said officers responded to a prowler call just before 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at the City Gear store in the 2900 block of Lamar Ave. Security reported several suspects in several vehicles had broken into the store and taken merchandise.
Investigators said the front window had been busted out and the front door unlocked. They said parts of the store had been ransacked as the thieves stole merchandise. They also said officers found a sledgehammer outside that may have been used to bust out the window.
Police said a store manager told them the crooks got away with about $10,000 worth of items, including Jordan shoes, Grizzlies Jackets, Nike shoes, Grindhouse Jeans, Nike jogging suits, and Levi jeans.
Investigators said there may have been six to 10 suspects involved in this latest break-in. Investigators said the suspects were in several vehicles, including a black four-door Infiniti sedan, a burgundy four-door Dodge Ram truck, and a gray four-door Infiniti sedan.
The suspects were wearing face masks and coverings, and one Suspect was wearing a camouflage jacket and camouflage jogging pants, getting into the black Infiniti sedan.
This is just the latest in a string of smash and grab burglaries at Memphis area stores, including several at local City Gear stores. Police are still looking for the men connected with thefts Monday, Nov 6 at the City Gear store on South Third St. and Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at the City Gear in the 4000 block of Elvis Presley Blvd.
