Crews across the Greater Memphis area work to repair water main breaks

As frozen pipes thaw, one of the issues popping up are water main breaks, which add to the low water pressure.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Crews across the Mid-South are dealing with the winter weather lingering across the area, causing issues from hazardous road conditions to water problems for many.

Among the issues popping up as frozen pipes thaw are water main breaks in some areas, adding to the low water pressure for many.

Here’s a look at what has been reported as of Friday.

The Town of Collierville said crews are working on a water main break on Greencliff Road, affecting about 30 to 40 customers in the area. As of 10 a.m., they did not have a time frame for when the break would be repaired.

MLGW said as of Friday afternoon, it had repaired 49 water main breaks since Saturday, and were currently working on 10 more. They ask that commercial customers and property owners check buildings or vacant properties for leaks.

Any customer seeing water coming from the surface of the street or areas of pooling water should immediately report a suspected water main break to 901-528-4465.

This will be updated as more information becomes available.
